College Applications FAQ

College Visits:

Students can visit one college campus of their choice during their Senior year.  This absence will be excused, but the student must bring back a note from the admissions office stating the student did attend the campus for that day.

GeorgiaFutures offers access to comprehensive information about college, universities, and technical colleges in Georgia.

College Applications FAQ:

  1. How do I get a transcript?
Transcripts can be ordered online for Georgia colleges at GeorgiaFutures.  For out of state schools and some private schools in Georgia, a transcript must be requested.  Students may come by the Guidance Office before or after school to order transcripts.  Transcripts have a 48 hour turn around.  It is the student's responsbility to pick up and mail the transcripts.
  2. How do I get a counselor recommendation?
Recommendations take 3 weeks, and the student must have completed the Brag Sheet.  The student will be called up when the recommendation is ready.
  3. How do I apply to a college?
Most colleges have an online application process.  The process and requirements for colleges vary, and it is best to visit their website for complete information.
  4. I am applying to the University of Georgia and need a counselor/school recommendation.
Counselors must complete an online recommendation for all students applying to UGA.  The counselor cannot access the recommendation form until the student has completed and submitted his/her application.  Students need to let their counselor know when they have submitted their online application to UGA.
  5. Should I apply for early admission?
Students interested in applying for early admission should talk with their counselor.
  6. How do I get my ACT/SAT scores sent to the college?
SAT and ACT scores need to be sent electronically to colleges.  Students can select 4 colleges to send their scores to at no charge at the time of test registration.  Choose colleges that you are seriously considering.  If you are pleased with your scores and need to send additional score reports to other schools, College Board will charge an additional fee.
