Mitch Horton has lived most of his life in Warner Robins and is a product of the Houston County school system.  He graduated in 1990 from Northside High School where he ran cross country and pitched for the baseball team.  He later graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in education.  He is certified in both broad field science and physical education.  He taught and coached at Northside High School for 15 years.  He has taught physical science, biology, environmental science and chemistry.  He has also worked with the project success program and targeted at-risk students in the area of science.  Through the years he has coached softball, basketball, baseball, and tennis.  He has been a varsity softball coach for eight years.  He and his wife also sponsored the Ultimate Frisbee club.  He believes in hard work, dedication, and charity.  He believes a fun, family atmosphere motivates students and athletes alike to meet and exceed their goals.

Mitch has been married to his high school sweetheart and fellow chemistry teacher at Northside for 16 years.  They have two children: Andi (13),  and Brett (10).  When not teaching and coaching, Mitch can be found supporting his children in their respective sports or training for triathlons.  He also enjoys traveling, snorkeling, wakeboarding, hiking, and camping with family.  He believes time is the most valuable thing you have and it is best spent with those you care most about.   He looks forward to the challenges and rewards of teaching and starting new softball and tennis programs at Veterans High School.
