Bio

Dr. Megan Jones earned her B.S. Ed in Language and Literacy Education from the University of Georgia ('11), her M.Ed in Secondary Education ('13) and Ed.S in Curriculum ('14) from Georgia College & State University. She earned her Doctorate of Curriculum and Instruction from Columbus State University ('24) with research involving academic performance among military-connected students and evaluating the professional development needs among high school educators to serve this subpopulation. She also holds certificates in leadership, reading, gifted education, and teacher support / coaching.

Dr. Jones began her career at Veterans High in 2011 and will be teaching AP English Literature and Dual Enrollment English 1101 / 1102 in the 2025-26 school year. Additionally, she serves as the school's gifted lead teacher, student government advisor, NEHS sponsor, and facilitates the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy. She was named a Top 5 Finalist for the 2024-25 Teacher of the Year in Houston County and was honored as STAR teacher in 2023.

Married to her college sweetheart, Colton, the Joneses have two boys, two cats, and a dog. Outside of the classroom, Dr. Jones loves traveling, watching Georgia football, playing golf, and spending time with friends and family.
